Telehealth allows psychological services to be delivered via computer, smart phone or tablet using video and/or audio communication technologies with the psychologist and the client in different locations.
This can be an effective and convenient alternative to traditional face-to-face methods of providing psychological services and has become a valuable option for service delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I deliver Telehealth sessions through secure online software called CoViu which was initially developed within the CSIRO specifically for the healthcare field. CoViu is simple to use as there are no downloads required and is private and secure. You can read about CoViu’s security features here.
Who can access Telehealth sessions?
Consideration such as your access to technology, symptoms, and potential barriers to access Telehealth (such as visual impairment) will be taken into account when I am considering your suitability for Telehealth sessions.
What are the funding options for Telehealth sessions?
Privately Funded
You are able to access Telehealth sessions without a referral if you are funding the session yourself. Please see Fees page for details of fees.
Private Health Insurance
Please check with your insurer as to whether you are eligible for rebates on psychological services delivered by Telehealth.
Mental Health Care Plans
Medicare rebates now apply to Telehealth sessions (phone call or video) when you have a valid referral from your General Practitioner. If you have an existing referral you can use this to access Telehealth sessions and are eligible for the Medicare rebate, provided there are sessions left on the referral. If you do not have an existing referral, you can request one from your General Practitioner. Please see Fees page for details of fees and rebates.
